A Letter from Thomas the Jefferson Salamander at Horspen Run Nature Preserve

All the animal here at Horsepen Run Nature Preserve are very glad that you could visit us! It’s always nice to see humans from our neighborhood.

Enjoy your visit, but please use your good manners.  Don’t touch wild animals in Horsepen Run Nature Preserve.  Touching can hurt us!

And if you visit in the spring, look at our ponds, but keep your hands to yourself, just like at school.  The ponds are full of animal babies.  Your big human hands and feet could really hurt a tiny baby frog or salamander.

Please take lots of photos of us, but don’t take us with you.  We like our home here, and we hope you like it, too.
